Do you struggle to maintain an organized workspace? We get it. When you’re busy with all of your assignments, sometimes organization gets put on the backburner.
You might be hurting your workflow by letting your workspace get out of hand, though. An organized office will keep you on track and finishing your work early.
Not sure how to get started with your office organization? We’re here with some advice! Keep reading to learn our top tips for organizing your space.
1. Plan It Out
If you’re trying to create the perfect organized office, you need to plan ahead of time. If you already have an office, strip it down and start from scratch.
Draw a loose floorplan of your office. Determine where the best places for your desk and storage furniture before you put it back in the room. Remember, you want to have everything close enough for you to grab it for work.
If you have a rolling chair, make sure that there’s enough space to roll around to the things that you need. This might seem like a small thing, but it makes a huge difference when it comes to your workflow.
2. Incorporate Plenty of Shelving
Shelves are great for staying organized in the office. When you use shelves, you’re able to see everything without having to open any doors. Make sure that you’re able to reach the shelves with the most-used objects or documents from your desk.
If you’re short on space, use hanging shelves above your desk or get shelves that can stack onto the sides of your desk.
3. Use Office Organizers
Organizers are everything when it comes to keeping your office tidy and organized. You can either use pre-made organizers or make your own DIY office organizers to truly customize them to your needs while staying on a budget.
Make sure that there’s a place for everything. When you know where something should be, it’s easy to grab it without disrupting your workflow.
In your office drawer organizer, make sure that you have all of your most-used tools (like pens, highlighters, staplers, and anything else that gets a lot of use during the day) in their own separate cubbies. At the end of each day, make sure it all goes back where it belongs.
This might be hard to get used to, but it will make a huge difference.
4. Label Everything
There’s a reason that so many people go overboard when they get their first label makers. Labeling things is fun and it’s a great way to keep yourself organized.
Use DIY labels or a label maker for your office organization tools, your drawers, and all of your binders that store your documents. You can even find custom-printed tabs for your filing folders (see here for more information) to make finding your documents a breeze.
If you’re like us, you won’t be able to stop labeling things once you start.
