For a lot of pool owners, one of the most important factors in having a healthy and fun summer is keeping your pool water clean so you can jump in the freshwater whenever you like without having to worry about the nasty stuff floating on the surface.

Unfortunately, most of us don’t know how to properly care for our pools and maintain them so they’re clean, clear, and most importantly, safe.

Thankfully, it’s not difficult at all! In fact, in this post, you are going to learn the 3 simple steps you need to follow to keep your pool water looking great year-round.

1. Filter Pool Water

When swimming pool cleaning, you must filter the water and ensure that the filter is well taken care of. A good filter can stop approximately 80% of water problems in your pool.

You need to run your pool’s filter system for a minimum of eight hours per day. However, if the pool water is hot, you will need to increase the filtration time.

If you don’t know how to calculate the ideal filtration time, just divide the temperature of the pool water but two. This will ensure you have plenty of filtration time no matter the temperature.

2. Balance Acidity of Pool Water

Finding the correct acidity balance in your pool water is critical. If you have a poor balance, it will lower the pH level and reduce the strength and effectiveness of any treatment products you try to use, including any disinfectants.

To ensure proper balance, you must check the pH level of the water while keeping your pool clean. The perfect pH of pool water is between 7 and 7.4. This is important to keep in mind when pool water testing

3. Disinfect Pool Water and Clean Algae

It is crucial to also check the disinfectant level of your pool water every seven days. This will make sure that you don’t have cloudy pool water and is also sanitary.

When it comes to the disinfection of pool water, you have different treatment options. These options include bromine, chlorine, UV, and salt electrolysis.

Also, dedicating a weekly anti-algae treatment will prevent any build-up of algae in your pool. However, before beginning any anti-algae treatment, you must ensure that the water balance is correct, and the filters are working correctly.
